Becker girls BB pushes win streak to 4

A pair of decisive wins last week upped the Becker girls basketball team’s win streak to four in a row, as they downed North Branch and Fridley.

Vs. North Branch

Last Friday, the team was dominant in a 63-30 win over the North Branch Vikings as the Dogs raced to a 28-10 halftime lead.  Adele and Andie Changamire each had 11 points in the opening half to pace the Bulldogs, as the team held the Vikings to just four made baskets in the same period.

In the second half, Becker caught fire from deep and hit eight three-point baskets to run away with the lead.  An amazing six different Bulldogs made at least one shot from beyond the arc in the second half.

Both Adele Changamire and Juliana Stach led the team with eight rebounds, while Adele added five steals to her impressive stat line.  Josie Reckelberg had a great night passing, as she dished out six assists in the game.

Scoring: Adele Changamire 16, Andie Changamire 19, Reckelberg four, Lauren Croal 10,Stach three, Adyson Petty five, Eilidh Mrnak six.

Community Clash

Saturday, the team hosted Fridley in the Breakdown Sports’ Community Clash series and came out on top, 74-54.

Again, the Bulldogs started out fast and built a 37-22 lead at halftime behind an amazing nine three pointers made, including three by Eilidh Mrnak.  Tess Brown also had a great opening half with nine points of her own, while Reckelberg added eight in the opening stanza.

Brown and Andie Changamire each hauled in nine rebounds for the Dogs, while Reckelberg doled out nine assists to lead the team.

Five Bulldogs scored in double figures in the game: Brown, Mrnak and Andie Changamire with 13 apiece, and Lauren Croal and Adele Changamire with 12 apiece.  

At 9-2, Becker sits all alone in second place in the Mississippi 8 Conference, while they are 11-9 overall with six games remaining in the regular season.
