Becker boys CC takes 1st in conference

The Becker boys’ cross country team managed to do it again with a first-place conference championship.

This would be the second time in program history and the first time that both the boys and the girls managed to earn the conference titles.

They traveled to St. Francis for the Conference Championship meet. The meet was wet and slippery, which made it challenging on the course.

JV Squad

For JV, Weston Denne (19:25) and Cooper Pany(19:31) earned conference ribbons. Carson Schuster took 20th in the race (20:14). Next was Tanner Schmitt (21:36) with his best 10-second PR time, and then Sean Geurkink (22:03). Aiden Jacobs (23:17) earned a career PR. Last were Edoardo Serra (23:50), Brody Zinken (25:37), and Mason Corner (29:27).

Varsity Squad

For varsity, Tanner Felton (16:12) took fourth in the meet overall. Felton, Parker Spindler (16:30, fifth), Swanson (16:32, sixth), & Evan Hubbard (17:04, 18th) earned All-Conference honors. Brandt Hemmelgarn (17:18), Holden Hubbard (18:13), and Mason Tschida (18:13) also performed well.

“I was glad to see the Bulldogs rise to the challenge to retain the title and proud of them for not allowing stumbles along the course to derail them at all,” said Coach Dustin Weege. “It is a testament to the character of these guys, and I look forward to seeing all that they can accomplish from this point onward with this season and beyond. These Bulldogs are an impressive group and a true joy to get to work with,”
