Last week, both the Becker boys and girls cross country team came together for a night of celebration and awards banquet.
The boys celebrated their accomplishments as they had “the most successful season of the program’s history capped with a fourth place state team finish,” according to Coach Weege.
Both teams expressed gratitude at awards night, thanking both families and teammates. The Bulldogs were grateful for all the support they received this season and all the encouragement that helped them achieve their goals.
The boys team earned a GPA of 3.893, which earned them the Gold Award from the Mississippi 8 Conference and from the MN Coaches Association. Aiden Jacobs, Parker Spindler, Weston Denne and Cooper Pany earned the All Conference Academic Award, while Parker Spindler earned All State Academic honors for race and classroom performances.
Weston Denne earned the Scholar Athlete pin for top GPA of the team. The coaches were proud that the team won six meets while maintaining a notable rank throughout the state.
“This crew is the first ever Becker Boys and Girls shared CC Conference Championship, the first Becker Boys and Girls shared CC Section Championship, and the highest ever Becker Boys CC team finish in the state,” said Head Coach Dustin Weege.
“The girls’ ninth place finish marked the eighth time that they have been in the top-10 of the state,” said Weege.
The other awards for the boys team went as follows: Most Valuable Teammate - Alex Swanson; Most Dedicated - Parker Spindler; Most Improved - Mason Tschida; Rookie Award - Cooper Pany; Bulldog Award - Evan Hubbard; the G.O.A.T.
