The becker boys baseball team held their annual end-of-the-season banquet Monday night at Hunter’s Ridge at Pebble Creek.
Coach Chuck Stanger organized and ran the meeting where he talked about the season, and the disappointment he wasn’t able to get his team to pick up the wins he thought they should have.
“But it was a good season,” he added.
The Bulldogs had five first-year letter winners including junior Matt Comzemius and sophomores Tyler Thorson, Robbie Benson, Clayton Gallus and Beau Pauly.
Becker had eight players who have lettered two or more times and they were seniors Brandon Croatt, Zack Zimmer, Jon Crowley, Tyler Madsen and Ryan Swanson. Also lettering were sophomores Andrew Stanger, Cody Gruenhagen and Casey Vesledahl.
The team scholar athlete award went to Croatt.
The most improved player award went to Madsen, most dedicated went to Crowley, team MVP went to Croatt.
The Bulldogs had two players placed on the all conference honorable mention list including Zimmer and Benson.
“This is the first year in a long time we placed three players on the all conference team,” said Stanger.
The all conference player awards went to Croatt, Stanger and Gruenhagen. “We will miss our five seniors and their leadership and their never quit attitude,” said Coach Stanger. “But we have a lot of underclass players returning and are looking to next year.”
The Bulldogs finished their 2014 season at 5-16.
