The Bulldog baseball team bowed out of the playoffs last Friday with a loss to Sauk Rapids-Rice, 2-0.

It was a pitcher’s duel through much of the Section 5AAA game until SRR tallied two scores in the sixth, then they battened down the hatches to shut out the Bulldogs.

Both teams were strong on the hill, but #6-seeded Sauk Rapids-Rice was just a little bit stronger at the plate in a victory over the Bulldogs. Matthew Moe started the game for Becker  and recorded 16 outs.

The #7-seeded Bulldogs managed just three hits off Trygve Hanson, who earned the victory after striking out four and walking one.

Moe took the loss for Becker, going five and a third innings, allowing seven hits and two runs while striking out five.

Weston Schug, Kreeden Blomquist and Zack Davidson each managed one hit to lead the Bulldogs offense.

SRR lost to Big Lake in the next round and the Hornets lost to Rocori in the semi-finals by a score of 7-0. Rocori, who had to battle through the loser’s bracket, took the section title by beating #5-seeded Monticello twice in the finals.
