Bandits stay alive in playoffs

The Bandits  went 2-1 in the opening weekend of the playoffs to keep their state tournament dreams alive.

Becker opened play last Saturday with a 5-3 win over the Ogilvie Orioles.  The Bandits scored all five of their runs in the first inning, as they batted around the order and collected five hits.

Kellan Graning picked up the win on the mound, going three innings and striking out five while allowing two earned runs.

Weston Schug was awesome in relief, working the final six innings and allowing just one run.

Ryan Groskreutz was 4-for-4 at the plate to lead Becker.

On Sunday, it was a battle of the Bandits, as Becker took on the East Bethel team with the same moniker and Becker fell 9-1.

Becker did manage 10 hits, but they stranded nine baserunners in the loss.

Ethan Guck suffered the loss on the mound, while Cam Fischer and Schug each saw action on the mound as well.
