Bandits, Lakers Play Buzzards Sit One Out

Two area baseball teams played games this week while one team had their matchup cancelled.
 
Becker Bandits 
 
The Sartell Muskies routed the host Becker Bandits Sunday, outhitting the Bandits 24-3 on their way to a 21-1 victory in an amateur baseball Sauk Valley League regular season game.
 
Jake Sweeter led the Muskies, going 5-for-5 on the day with two RBI. David Deminsky went 4-for-5 with four runs while Andrew Deters added a grand slam home run in the win.
 
Adam Wenker got the win for Sartell giving up only three hits and striking out nine.
 
Hayden Fassler went 3-for-3 accounting for all three of Becker’s hits.
 
Becker’s next game is  Wednesday when they will travel to Albertville.
 
Clear Lake Lakers
 
The Lakers traveled to Staples to participate in the annual Staples Baseball Tournament Saturday and Sunday.
 
The Lakers played three games, going 2-1.
 
In Clear Lake’s first game, the Lakers lost a thriller by a score of 9-7 to the Warroad Muskies. In game two Saturday, they rebounded with a big win over the Marble Mallards, 7-5.
 
Sunday, the Lakers whooped the Avon Lakers 7-3 to improve their season record to 7-14.
 
The Lakers’ next game is today (Sat.) on the road against the Becker Bandits at 1:30 p.m.
 
Becker Buzzards
 
The Buzzards were scheduled to play a doubleheader against Carlos Sunday, but the games were cancelled due to Carlos not having enough players to field a team.
 
The Buzzards’ next game was Friday at Clarissa at 7 p.m. They are then off for the week of Independence Day and return to the field July 8 for two games against Alexandria and Fergus Falls (2 p.m. and 4 p.m.)
