It was a Sunday night 14-8 win for the Becker Bandits, as they downed their Hwy. 10 rivals, the Clear Lake Lakers, May 30.
Becker jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning, as Josh Groskreutz, Dalton Fouquette and Justin Thorn all crossed the plate.
Becker also had other big innings with three runs scored in the third and four runs in the eighth inning.
Will Thorn was four-for-five at the plate, while Fouquette had three hits and four RBI.
Trevor Fleege and Matt Korte each had a pair of hits for the Lakers, who put together a nice comeback with five runs scored in the fifth inning to pull to within 6-5.
Will Thorn picked up the win on the mound for the Bandits, as he worked four innings, striking out two and giving up zero hits. Cam Fischer relieved for three innings and was touched for seven hits, while Matt Moe worked the final two innings in the win.
Becker out-hit Clear Lake 17-10 in the game.
Vs. Quamba
The Bandits picked up a 3-2 win over Quamba last Wednesday with Ethyn Cantin picking up the win on the mound.
The right hander worked the final two innings and struck out six Cub batters.
Weston Schug got the start on the mound and went three innings, followed by Ethan Guck, who also worked three. Sawyer Anderson then pitched the seventh before giving way to Cantin.
In all, the Becker pitching staff struck out 15 Quamba hitters.
Anderson had a pair of hits and 2 RBI to lead the offense.
Vs. Sartell
Sunday, Becker won 5-4 over the Sartell Stone Poneys.
Will Thorn got the start and went five innings, followed by Cam Fischer and Guck.
Ryan Groskreutz worked the final inning and picked up the win as the Bandits won in walk-off fashion.
Jackson Thorn had three hits and Kellan Graning two to lead the Bandits.
Becker is off to a hot start, with a 4-1 Sauk Valley League record and 6-3 overall.
