Awards pour in for state champion softball players

After a phenomenal season in which the team was crowned Class AAA State Champions, the Becker softball team announced its awards this week.  The recognition came in the form of local categories, as well as many conference and statewide honors. The awards were presented by the coaches at a June 7 ceremony.

Coach Baune spoke to the high academics that the athletes in the program currently have, as the varsity won the Gold Academic Award with a team GPA average of 3.85.  

The following varsity and JV student athletes received Spotlight on Scholarship Awards for maintaining a cumulative GPA over 3.0: Hannah Bartlett, Ashlyn Croal, Kayla Denny, Kennedy Drehmel, Emma Eickhoff, Norah Fitzpatrick, Ellie Gallus, Nevaeh Gardner, Brooke Hendrickson, Kyla Henkemeyer, Emery Johannes, Cadence Koste, Evelyn Kreft, Jenna Kringler, Alexia Mostad, Kurstyn Patnode, Krista Paulson, Levi Roske, Madelyn Sherman, Jada Soltau, and Taylor Storlien.

Mississippi 8 Academic All-Conference: Bartlett, Eickhoff, Hendrickson, Henkemeyer, Kringler, Paulson, Roske, Sherman, Gardner, Kreft, and Soltau.

Academic All-State honors as seniors with a GPA over 3.75: Eickhoff, Paulson, Henkemeyer, Roske, and Hendrickson.

The final academic award was the Scholar Athlete Award which goes to the varsity athlete with the highest cumulative GPA and that honor went to Henkemeyer.

The following athletes we awarded Varsity Letters: Roske, Croal, Henkemeyer, Bartlett, Sherman, Gallus, Eickhoff, Paulson, Kringler, Hendrickson, Koste, Zerwas, and Patnode.

M8 All-Conference: Eickhoff, Paulson, Hendrickson, Koste, and Patnode.

M8 Honorable Mention All-Conference: Zerwas, Sherman, and Bartlett.

M8 Offensive Player of the Year: Kurstyn Patnode.

Senior All-Star Game Athletes: Emma Eickhoff & Krista Paulson.

1st Team All-State: Kurstyn Patnode.

Honorable Mention All-State: Emma Eickhoff

The next award was the Pyramid of Success Award,  which is chosen by the coaches as the student-athlete that best represents John Wooden’s Pyramid of Success that the team studies and Krista Paulson was named this year’s winner.

The final three awards were voted on by the players.  There was a 3-way tie for Most Improved: Hannah Bartlett, Ellie Gallus, and Levi Roske.  The team’s Most Dedicated player was Brooke Hendrickson, while Most Valuable Player was Emma Eickhoff.
