The Becker High School Dance Team debuted their 2019-2020 season last Friday at their second annual “Great Becker Get Together” dance show held in the high school gym.
With special performances by Just for Kix and Starz Studio, the audience was dazzled by the talent and showmanship shown by all the dancers.
“The event was originally created to allow all three programs to get performance time and show the community that dance is beautiful and athletic no matter what style you’re doing,” said Becker HS Dance Team Coach Nadia Fischer-Danzeisen.
“This year we decided we wanted to give back to the community who always gives to us so we added a raffle basket which was worth over $600. We had lots of people participating in it.”
For every five non-perishable items brought in for donation to the food shelf, attendees received a raffle ticket for the basket which was filled with items from local sponsors.
The dance team itself also donated four tie blankets they made together to the food shelf.
To add even more excitement to the evening, two Vikings Cheerleaders were in attendance, including Becker’s own Sara Robbins. The young women signed official Vikings Cheerleaders calendars and took photos with fans.
The official season started for the team Oct. 21, Friday’s event was their first public performance. The team has already been busy. Saturday they received several compliments for their performance at the Sartell show, Tuesday they competed in the Mississippi 8 Conference and today (Nov. 23) they’re at the St. Cloud Tech Invitational.
“We’re looking for a big year ahead of us!” said Fischer-Danzeisen.
