If one could “dial-in” a perfect day to be outdoors, enjoy some fellowship and whack a white ball around acreage of grassy real estate — Monday woul dhave been that day.
On a glorious, 80º day in Becker, 19 teams and 76 “whackers” spent the afternoon Monday playing in the annual Great River Faith in Action golf tournament at Pebble Creek.
Four chiropratic students from St. Cloud took home the first place price in the scramble format with an impressive -11 tally. The youngsters each won a future round of golf at Pebble Creek and four $35 gift cards for the Becker golf course’s clubhouse.
A delicious meal was served following the play that featured a dinner salad, beef and gravy, colrful vegetables, potatoes and a breadstick.
Over $6,000 in prizes were donated to GRFIA and dispersed. Tony Bailey’s ticket was drawn from the putting contestants who “holed” a putt and Bailey received $265 cash, which he quickly donated back to GRFIA in a kind gesture.
The top raffle prize went to Phil Hienkel, who received a 2 night stay at Rutger’s Bay with meals included and unlimited golf (valued at $600).
Sponsors of Monday’s event included: Pellco, Darter Plastics, Northwest Machine, M&M Machine, Beaudry Oil, Becker Furniture, Victory Ministries, UMC, Community Dev Bank, Bergan KDV, ReMax (Mel Beaudry), Helix Solutions, Bremer Bank, Liberty Paper and First Bank ER.
“On behalf of myself and the board of directors we want to thank Ian, Tyler and their staff at Pebble Creek for having the course in great condition and serving a wonderful meal,” Said GRFIA Executive Director Darin Bohlken.
“It is such positive image for our organization to partner with them in putting this event together each year.”
