Last weekend, Becker wrestlers competed individually in hopes to advance to the individual state tournament in March. Nine out of the 10 bulldogs placed in the tournament with six of them going to state for individuals.
In the 107-lb weight class, Boston Kuschel took first place with one bye, one 3-2 decision, and two pins. Bennett Kujawa, in the 114-lb weight class, also took first place with one bye, one decision, and two pins.
Unfortunately for Becker, in the 127-lb weight class, Jack Fischer was not able to place due to an injury occurring in his first match which meant that he would be out for the rest of the tournament.
Tyler Hall, in the 133-lb weight class, placed fourth after he received one bye, one 4-0 decision, and two second round falls.
First place in the 139-lb weight class went to Kaden Nicolas after he won his matches in a pin, bye, or major decision. Another first place went to Landen Kujawa following his second round fall, 5-1 decision, and two byes in the 145-lb weight class.
Drew May was runner up in the 152-lb weight class with one bye, one second round fall, and two decisions. Fifth place went to Logan Jarvis after he gained a one bye, one major decision, and two falls. The 172-lb weight class awarded Owen Angell first place when he beat out his competition with one bye, one decision, and two pins. After his one bye, one pin, and two decisions; Aiden Golley secured a fifth place win in the 189-lb weight class.
The Becker team will also be competing Thursday February 29 in their third consecutive team tournament.
Congratulations also goes out to Drew May for accomplishing his 50th pin, Owen Angell for reaching his 100th career win, Boston Kuschel for reaching his 60th career win, Kaden Nicolas for tying the Becker school record for most wins after receiving his 171st win, and finally coach Dustin Weege for being named section assistant coach of the year.
