The Becker/Big Lake Eagles hockey team faced off against their conference rival Northern Edge on Thurs., Feb. 5.
The first goal went to the Eagles after senior Tate Spilde scored with an assist from senior Brody Barth.
Northern Edge would retaliate with a goal of their own tying the score at one.
In the second period, the Eagles saw senior Hayden Kipka score an even strength goal with assists from senior captain Carter Tatge and Jack Schwartz to go up 2-1.
Northern Edge tied the contest at 2-2 in the second period after scoring another goal to even things up.
Tanner Felton scored another goal for the Eagles in the third period with assists from Schwartz and Tatge.
Unfortunately for the Eagles, Northern Edge fought back with another goal tying the game at three.
The winning goal was captured by Spilde with assists from sophomore Owen Zahler and Barth.
Junior goalie Elliot Grafnitz had 30 saves on 33 shots, which pushed his save percentage to .909.
Vs. Blades
The Eagles would go on to host the Breckenridge/Wahpeton Blades earlier this week.
The Blades scored quickly in the first, but the Eagles countered with a goal from Zahler and assisted by Schwartz and junior Brant Rusin.
In the second period, the Eagles pushed ahead with a goal from Spilde and an assist from Rusin. Not looking to be outdone, senior Raymond Clark would score a goal with an assist from Tatge to go up 3-1.
The Blades mounted their comeback with another goal to make it 3-2, but it was Rusin who sealed the game with an empty net goal for a 4-2 victory.
Junior goalie Max Klassen saved 26 on 28 shots with a save percentage of .929.
Currently, the Eagles record is 11-12 with their conference record evening out at 5-5.
