On July 21, 2025, William (Bill) Peter Rowland of Becker, MN, passed away at the age of 64.
Bill was born and raised in Minneapolis, graduating from John F. Kennedy High School in Bloomington. As a member of the US Army, his active duty career began in 1982 with the US Army Transportation Corp Military Police Company stationed in Vicenza, Italy.
In 1985, he left active duty service to earn a degree in Law Enforcement from Inver Grove Community College in 1988. Bill went on to join the Sherburne County Sheriff’s office as a deputy, where he served for 14 years. In 1992, he joined the US Army Reserve as a heavy vehicle driver with the 353rd Transportation Company in Buffalo, MN. In 2003, he re-entered active duty to serve with the 660th Transportation Company from Cadiz, Ohio in a deployment. He earned a purple heart and bronze star for his service in Iraq. He went on to retire from the Army Reserve as a first sergeant.
Bill also devoted his time to coaching girl’s lacrosse, being a builder and fixer of things, and spending many hours on the golf course.
Bill is survived by his children Amelia, Alex and Holly Rowland. He is also survived by siblings Laura Prow, Mary Gerberding, Joel Rowland, Carol Moster, Tom Rowland, Jim Rowland, Therese Hammett, Elizabeth Padilla and Dan Rowland.
Bill is preceded in death by his brother John Rowland.
