Wayne J. Forsythe

Memorial services was Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at the Community United Methodist Church in Monticello for Wayne Forsythe, who died unexpectedly Friday at his home in Big Lake.  The Rev. Rhode Jacobson officiated and burial was in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery near Little Falls.

Wayne was born in Tyler to Vernon & Beatrice (Fifield) Forsythe.  He grew up in Tyler.  He owned a corn shelling business with his father and later served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict.  He married Jane Smith on November 11, 1955.  He worked as a game warden for the State of Minnesota until his retirement.  He also worked later for the Sherburne County Sheriffs Department in his retirement years.  He is a member of the Community United Methodist Church in Monticello.

Wayne was very proud of his family, a loyal friend and passionate fisherman.  He was a great storyteller who always enjoyed a good joke or prank.  He spent time tinkering and creating things.  Wayne was a very matter of fact guy, particular about getting things done, and how it was done, always trying diligently to do the right thing.  He was very determined and didn’t give up until the job was done.

Survivors include his children, Vicki (Mark) Reberg of Big Lake, Tim (Cyndi) Forsythe of Big Lake, Barb (Dave) Schmidt of Crosby; sister in law, Mary Forsythe of Madelia; grandchildren, Dustin, Kevin (Julie) Reberg, Tyler, Emery, Madison Forsythe, and Jasper Schmidt; and great granddaughter, Clara Reberg.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Robert & Vernon; and wife, Jane on September 17, 2013.
