Roger Herman Koopmeiners passed away on December 19th, 2023. 

Roger was born on July 25, 1942 in Melrose, Minnesota to Alois and Brigitta (Pohlmann) Koopmeiners. He married Elizabeth (Betty) Malikowski on May 22, 1965 at Saint Anthony Catholic Church in St. Cloud, Minnesota. Roger served in the Air Force as a military police officer from 1959-1963. After his military service, he went to work for Coca-Cola in Saint Cloud. He and Betty moved to Fridley, Minnesota where he worked for Control Data. He then pursued his career in law enforcement and joined the Mounds View Police Department where he served for 25 years. In his spare time, Roger enjoyed working part time at Knox Lumber.

Roger enjoyed camping with his family and with members of the Go-for Motorhome Club. Roger and Betty also enjoyed spending winters in Arizona. Roger was always willing to give a helping hand in Home Projects, Sprinkler Systems. 

Roger is preceded in death by his parents, Alois and Brigitta; brothers Richard and Leon Koopmeiners; sister-in-law Betty Koopmeiners; brother-in-law William Malikowski; and father and mother-in-law Jerome and Frances Malikowski. 

Roger is survived by his wife Elizabeth (Betty) Malikowski of 58 years, daughter Julie (Kirk) Vlasak; grandchildren Taylor (Alyssa) Vlasak, Jordan Vlasak, and Erin Vlasak; and sisters Diane Gross of Saint Cloud and Judy Schmidt of Charlotte, North Carolina.

The service will be held on Tuesday, January 16, 2024 at Mary of Visitation at 440 Lake St N, Big Lake, MN 55309. The visitation will start at 10:00am for 1 hour prior to church services at 11:00am. His final resting place will be at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls, Minnesota.
