Robert E. Foizie

A private family celebration of life for Bob Foizie, 95 year old Clear Lake, Minnesota resident who passed away Thursday, Sept. 13th at the Johnson County Health Care Center in Buffalo, Wyoming, will be held by his family at the TA Ranch south of Buffalo. Robert Earl Foizie was born on December 6, 1922 in St. Paul and grew up the son of Earl and Suzanne Foizie. He went to school in Duluth, where he graduated from Central High School. After high school he joined the National Guard and when WWII broke out he was sent to Northern Ireland where he trained in the Signal Corps for six months before being shipped out to Northern Africa. He received the Bronze Star for valor during his time in the military. He received an honorable discharge in 1945 and returned the U.S. He was married July 22, 1946 in Hot Springs, Arkansas to Hazel Holmes, the love of his life that he met while he was stationed in Northern Ireland. He attended Superior State College in Superior, Wisconsin where he received a B.S. in Education. Bob took a job teaching Biology in Tony, Wisconsin where he taught from 1950 until 1963 when he took a job in Union Grove, Wisconsin teaching high school Biology, Chemistry and Earth Science. In 1975 he left teaching and went to work driving over the road trucks and teaching at truck driving schools. In 1985 he retired and he and Hazel moved to Baudette where they lived for ten years. In 2004 they moved to Clear Lake, Minnesota where they were living at the time of his death.
 
Bob was an avid hunter and spent many days in the backwoods of Minnesota hunting whitetail, bear and elk. He wrote adventure novels but his passion was spending time with his family.
 
He is survived by his wife of 72 years Hazel Foizie of Clear Lake, Minnesota; three daughters, Bobbi Swenson and her husband Gary of Buffalo, Liz Weber of Buffalo and Kathleen Otto and her husband Stacy of Roseau, Minnesota; one son Gordon Foizie and his wife Jeanette of Corpus Christi, Texas; one half-sister Marge VanHorn of Sunnyvale, California; nine grandchildren: Tanya Nelson, Andrea Weber, Kyle Weber, Robin Sund, Kimberly Nelson, Katie Reed, Samantha Reed-Wanderi, Morgan Foizie, Brooke Foizie; and ten great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter Deirdre.
