Richard Marvin Steenerson of Isle, died Saturday, June 15, at Mille Lacs Health Systems in Onamia. He was 74 years old.
Richard was born May 20, 1945 in Halstad, to Berdien and Myrtle (Johnson) Steenerson. He graduated from Aurora-Hoyt Lakes High School and the University of Minnesota-Duluth where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in education. He taught sixth grade at Becker for 33 years. Along with many coaching jobs in the junior high level, he worked with his teaching partners and built houses in the summer months. For his entire life Richard loved to hunt and fish. He also enjoyed woodworking projects.
Richard is survived by his brothers, Robert Steenerson of Isle and Larry Steenerson of Brimson; his sister, Beverley Mirau of Hoyt Lakes; his step-mother, Margaret Steenerson; as well as other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 11a.m. Saturday, June 29 at Mille Lacs Funeral Home in Isle. Visitation will be from 10-11 A.M. Honorary Casketbearers are Jerry Novak, Brad Novak, Paul Orazem and Tim Zimmerman. Burial will be at Hoyt Lakes Memorial Cemetery at a later date.
