Richard (Dick) Carlson died unexpectedly on November 5, 2022, at his home in Big Lake.  Born on February 20, 1941 in Duluth to Robert G. & Edna (Anderson) Carlson.  He married Marilyn Gail Ryder on August 31, 1970 in Minneapolis. 

Dick enjoyed Minnesota sports, especially Gopher's basketball. True to his detail-oriented nature, he would make lists of statistics to study and compare. He also enjoyed watching his children's athletic activities and, later, keeping up on his grandchildren's sports. Dick worked as a career counselor for many years and enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and his wife of 52 years. 

He is survived by his wife Gail; daughter, Kristin Erb of Richfield; son, Joel Carlson of Eden Prairie; brother, Robert and 3 grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents.
