Patricia “Pat” McKusick, 80 Big Lake, MN January 13, 1944 - May 7, 2024

McKusick, Patricia Ann, age 80, resident of Big Lake, MN passed away peacefully with her loving family surrounding her on May 7, 2024.  She is survived by her husband Jack and three children.  Pat was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend to many.  She was born January 13, 1944, in Port Archer, WA to James & Helen Patton.  She was the oldest of five children.  She married “Jack” John McKusick on October 16, 1965, in Anoka, MN.  Together they lived in Anoka, then Champlin, MN where they lived for a few years.  In 1974, they moved to Big Lake, MN and settled in a newer developing neighborhood, Palamino Acres, near the Sand Dunes State Forest area that has always been known as home to family and friends that visit because of the way they have always openly welcomed guests.

Pat and Jack had three children: John, DeAnna, and Cindy.  Pat was a stay-at-home mom that enjoyed caring for their active children and enjoyed every adventure as they built their home and cleared their yard as it was prepared for a life that has produced many memories.  She participated in activities through the local church, Svea Hill Covenant Church, where she participated in bible studies and gatherings.  She has always enjoyed any time spent with family and friends.  When anyone would mention a reason for a gathering, Pat would volunteer to host and enjoyed every moment.  If there was a child or grandchild that had a reason to go shopping, she was excited to go and was ready in an instant.  As the grandchildren started to come, it gave her great pleasure to be able to spoil the bundles of joy even more.  The cuddles brought a lot of joy and reminiscing about stories told from years before.  She loved to tell stories, remembering back when moments, even those you wished she would forget, were not that far off.  When there was time to get away, Jack and Pat enjoyed being able to travel to North Dakota to visit the family ranch or enjoy a road trip to any unknown location.

When the children had grown up and all were in school, Pat decided to learn how to drive, got her license, and decided to go to work.  She worked at Sunny Fresh in Monticello, MN and then later as a home health aide in the Big Lake and Monticello area.  She retired so she could enjoy many more of life’s adventures with her husband, Jack, spend more time with her family and working in her flower gardens.

Pat is survived by her husband Jack of Big Lake; son, John (Michelle) of Monticello; daughter, Cindy (James) Stone of Cambridge; son in law, Jesse Smith of Mandan, ND; 6 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.  She is preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Deanna Smith, granddaughter, Rachel Smith and 3 of her siblings.

Memorial services were held on Monday, May 13, 2024, at 2 pm with a visitation one hour prior at Lord of Life Church, 14501 Nowthen Blvd. NW, Ramsey, MN.  Pastor David Lechelt officiated.
