Margaret M. Scoles (Kehle)

Margaret M. Scoles, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away peacefully in her home, with her family by her side, on Sept. 29, 2014. Rev. Dee Pederson will officiate the Memorial Services on Mon., Oct. 6 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in St. Cloud, with Visitation from 2-5 p.m. and Funeral Services beginning at 5 p.m. She will be laid to rest next to her husband at St. Marcus Cemetery in Clear Lake in a private burial.

Margaret was born in 1927 to parents Reinhold and Anna Kehle of St. Cloud. She grew up in the area and graduated from St. Cloud Tech High School before marrying David Scoles, Sr. on Dec. 27, 1952. On Dec. 27th, 2002, they celebrated 50 years of marriage and family together. In-between those dates, they adventured through life together, moving across the country to California, down South to Alabama, Louisiana, Georgia before finally settling back in Minnesota. Their adventures continued as Margaret worked as a telephone operator, before they worked together owning nightclubs, and owning and operating Becker and Carlos Bingo Palaces. But her most important job was raising and caring for her family; Her husband, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and extended family, were her life. Her biggest joy came from spending time with them and being part of their lives. Margaret was also an avid reader, enjoyed puzzles, crossword puzzles and time spent at the cabin and casino trips, and she was her son’s biggest race car fan or, “Frightened Mother of #36”. She was the light and the heart at the center of her family.

She is survived by her children Cindy Nelsen, Jeff (LuRae) Scoles, Suzie (Michelle) Scoles, David Jr. (Sheila) Scoles; grandchildren Michael (Kelly) Nelsen, Shannon Nelsen, Jeff Jr. (Roz) Scoles, Phonsy Scoles, Nick Regnier, Tiffany Scoles, and David III (Nicola) Scoles; step-grandchildren Chad (Kristen) VanHeel, Nicole VanHeel, and Jacob (Sammantha) VanHeel; great grandchildren Kamryn, Kylie and Kiegan Scoles, Alex, Anthony and Johnathan Nelsen; Step-great grandchildren Chase, Max and Easton VanHeel; as well as nieces, nephews and friends. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; husband David Scoles, Sr. on Aug. 17, 2003; brother Reinard Kehle; sister Rosemary Hanson; and nephews Bill, Chuckie and Don Kehle.

Margaret was truly an angel, and she will be missed by everyone.

Margaret’s family extends a special Thank You to Dr. Leah Holmgren, and the St. Cloud Hospital Hospice staff, especially Deb Ritter, for their love and kindness. Their gentle care of Margaret over the last year of her life is deeply appreciated.
