LaVonne Gladys Simola, age 79 of Big Lake, MN, passed away peacefully at home with family on Thursday, September 19, 2024. She was born August 24, 1945 in Marshall, MN, the daughter of Holly and Gladys Perry.
LaVonne worked many years with Prudential Insurance until her retirement. After retirement, LaVonne became a beloved part of the Monticello American Legion Post 260 by selling pull-tabs and made lifelong connections with the Monticello community.
She was a member of Women of Today, Red Hat Society, Blue Line Boosters, and Monticello Youth Hockey Association. She enjoyed attending her son’s hockey tournaments, you knew she was in the crowd by the sound of her ringing cowbell and cheers. She also enjoyed bowling, playing softball, tending to her flowers and gardens, clothes shopping, and spending time with her family and friends. She was a devoted wife, caring mother, and loyal lifelong and new friend to many. Her amazing meals, outgoing personality, and generous heart will dearly be missed by everyone.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Dennis L. Sandbo; parents, Holly Perry and Gladys Johnson; and brother, Harvey Perry.
LaVonne is survived by her husband, John Simola; children, Kimberly Rose (Keith), Chad Sandbo (Melissa), Erick Simola, Jeff Simola (Rachel), Tim Simola (Jackie); grandchildren, Camilla, Evan, Pearl, Keagan, Everette, Ozzy; beloved dogs, Peanut and Harvey; and other loving family and numerous friends.
Visitation will be held Friday, September 27, 2024 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Peterson-Grimsmo Funeral Chapel in Monticello, MN. Funeral service will be held Saturday, September 28, 2024 at 3:00 p.m., with visitation one hour prior, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Monticello, MN, and a luncheon following. Burial Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, MN.
