Ken J. Maehren, age 58, Clearwater, died at his home on Saturday, May 3, 2025, after a brave battle with cholangiocarcinoma surrounded by the love of his family.
Memorial Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 16, 2025, at Rejoice Lutheran Church in Clearwater with Rev. Karleen Jung officiating. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday and 10-11 a.m. on Friday, both at the church.
Kenneth Joseph Maehren was born on January 7, 1967, in Chicago, Illinois. Ken’s journey through life exemplified love, dedication, and resilience. Adopted by Al and Elsie (Hiebel) Maehren, Ken found his home in the heart of central Minnesota, where he attended school in St. Cloud and graduated from Tech High School in 1985. He furthered his education at DeVry University in Kansas City, MO and St. Cloud State University, earning a Bachelor’s Degree that paved the way for a successful career as an Information Technology Specialist. A majority of Ken’s working career was spent at Cargill and UKG. On May 25, 1991, Ken married the love of his life, Kristy Huberty, and together they built a warm and nurturing home in Clearwater, where they shared countless cherished memories.
Ken’s passions extended beyond his professional pursuits. A proud member of the Clearwater Lions Club and Rejoice Lutheran Church, he devoted many hours to volunteering, making an indelible impact on his community. He possessed a remarkable appreciation for the beauty of art, particularly Disney collections, and his love for travel, movies, tennis, and bowling created uncountable moments of joy shared with family and friends. Above all, Ken treasured his family, fostering an environment filled with laughter, love, and unwavering support and dedication.
Ken is survived by his beloved wife, Kris of Clearwater; children, Justin of Biddeford, ME, Lucas of St. Louis Park, and Mickaela of Minneapolis; father, Al Maehren of St. Cloud; brother, Jason Tewell of St. Louis, MO; and other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Elsie Maehren, and his birth parents.
Justin Maehren, Lucas Maehren, Mickaela Maehren and Jason Tewell will serve as urn bearers. Ruth Steffes and Sue Oelke will provide music for the service. Arrangements entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care Burial and Cremation Services of Annandale.
