John P. Liljedahl, age 71, of Willmar, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday morning, October 7, at Be thesda PleasantView Nursing Home in Willmar.
A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 13, at the First Covenant Church in Willmar. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery in Minneapolis. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church. Memorials to Bethesda Day Break are preferred. John Philip Liljedahl was born on February 27, 1943, in St. Paul, Minnesota, the son of Philip E. and Mildred E. (Thompson) Liljedahl. He grew up and spent most of his life in South Minneapolis. John was employed at M.D.I. and delivered newspapers for “The Shopper”. In 1999, he moved to Willmar and was a volunteer at the First Covenant Church doing custodial duties. John was active with Special Olympics. He enjoyed riding his bike, walking his pet dogs, fishing and traveling to Tennessee to visit his sister.
He is survived by his siblings, Rolly Liljedahl of Akeley, Jerry (and Doreen) Liljedahl of Eden Prairie, Ron Liljedahl of Chippewa Falls, WI., Gloria (and Darrell) Freeberg of Cordova, TN., and Diane (and Greg) Schlichting of Willmar; several nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister-in-law, Mary, and his favorite uncle, John Graning.
