John “Jack” P. Chmielewski

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Sat., March 29, 2014 at Mary of the Visitation Catholic Church in Becker for John “Jack” P. Chmielewski, age 73, who passed away Wednesday at his home.  Rev. Eugene Doyle will officiate and private family burial will be in the parish cemetery.  Visitation was from 4-8 p.m.

Friday at Mary of the Visitation Catholic Church in Becker and is one hour prior to the services Saturday at the church. Parish prayers were at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the church.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home, Becker.
 
Jack was born July 11, 1940 in St. Cloud to John and Marion (Stimmler) Chmielewski.  He married Elaine Marso on May 7, 1960 in Parker, SD.
They lived in South Dakota until moving to the Becker area in 1967.  Jack worked as a lineman for REA in South Dakota and then as a superintendent for Donovan Construction in Minneapolis for over 36 years, retiring in 2002.  He was a member of Mary of the Visitation Catholic Church in Becker. Jack loved his dog “Nikki”, and he enjoyed having coffee at Jack & Jim’s, visiting with family, the Minnesota Vikings, holidays, and telling stories about his younger years.  
He was a provider and caregiver for others, was a huge family man, and was happiest when family was all around. Jack was a hard worker but knew how to have fun. Faith was very important to him.
 
Survivors include his wife, Elaine of Becker; children, Jacquie of Fountain Hills, AZ, Gail Jenson of Duelm, Kevin (Sherrie) of Duelm, Donald (Kimberly) of Rice, Richard (Michelle) of Foley, and Tamara (Raymond) Whitlow of Chandler, AZ; brother and sisters, Jim (Sue) of Clear Lake, Judy Wipper of Clear Lake, Janet (Jerry) Schafer of Maple Lake; 15 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.  Jack was preceded in death by his parents.
 
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
