Joan passed away peacefully on January 28, 2022, at Alomere Health Hospital in Alexandria, MN. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Joan was born on November 8, 1932, in Hallock, MN. She grew up and graduated from high school in Hallock, MN and headed for the Big Cities where her and friend got jobs. That’s where she met Richard H. Hesley and were married on June 18, 1955. Joan was a loving homemaker providing for her four children. In the mid-sixties they bought and operated a gas station and coffee shop (Dick’s 66) in Zimmerman, MN in which she ran the coffee shop. Se also loved music and could play many instruments, the violin, guitar, accordion, piano and in the late sixties, she had a music shop in Zimmerman, MN, where she gave music lessons. In the mid-eighties, they bought ad operated the Family Café in Big Lake, MN and retired in Becker, MN. Joan was a kind and thoughtful person and will be greatly missed.

Joan will be remembered by her one son and three daughters, Steve (Debra) Hesley, Debra Othoudt, Dana (Mark) Matis and Diane (Paul) Palmer; her brother Earl (Susie) Olson. Joan was preceded in death by her parents, husband Richard H. Hesley and grandchildren Matthew Matis and Allen Othoudt.
