Passed away peacefully, surrounded by her children on Monday, May 13, 2024, after a short fight with cancer.
Joan was preceded in death by her husband of 32 years, Garrett Flemming; parents Angeline (Kozik) and George Bloomfield; and twin brother John.
Surviving are her children Deanna Springsteen, Barbara Flemming (Donald Ponsford) and Lonnie Flemming; grandchildren Korey Flemming, and Valerie Flemming; sister Sandra Bloomfield; 1 niece; and the extended Flicek family.
Joan was a loving mother and fabulous grandmother. She had a kind and gentle soul with an unwavering devotion to her family. Even while battling cancer her feisty, fun loving humor was shared with family and her care team. She always kept busy and was instrumental in serving as the neighborhood “Mom” at the Big Lake trailer park.
The children would lovingly pick her flowers from her own garden to give her. She was the “lifeguard” at the pool there, even though she couldn’t swim! Often keeping a watchful eye on other children as well as her own.
Years later, kids from the neighborhood would come back to visit her. She took great pride in the upkeep and appearance of the trailer park office and its grounds. She made sure flowers were planted, weeded, and well kept. Reading and doing Word Finds were a great pleasure to her.
Per her request, there will be no services. Joan will be interred next to her husband at Big Lake Cemetery in Big Lake, MN. Arrangements by the Peterson-Grimsmo Funeral Chapel, Monticello, 763-295-2918. (www.peterson-grimsmochapel.com)
