Jerry Culp

Jerry Culp, 65, of Heimdal, ND formerly from the Becker – Monticello area died Fri., Jan. 29 at the St. Aloisius Hospital in Harvey. 
 
Funeral services were held Wed., Feb. 3 at Peterson Grimsmo Chapel, 250 East Broadway,  Monticello,  with Reverend Theresa Nelson officiated. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at Hertz Funeral Home in Harvey. Burial was in the Swedish Mission Cemetery, Buffalo, MN. 
 
Gerald Eugene Culp was born on January 2, 1951 in Minneapolis, MN to Joseph and Frieda (Kramer) Culp. He spent his early years in Crystal, MN before moving to Monticello in 1965.
 
He graduated from the Monticello High School in 1969. Gerald worked at several companies including Farmdale in Big Lake, MN, Jack Frost in Sauk Rapids and Ray’s Carpet Service in Big Lake. He was a maintenance man for Cargill for 32 years retiring in Feb. 2013. 
 
Gerald was married to Janice Marie Berthiaume on March 2, 1972 at Big Lake and were married for over 43 years. They lived in the Becker, Monticello areas until moving to Heimdal, ND in 2013. While living in Heimdal, Gerald delivered seed for Dakota Country Seed Company. 
 
Gerald’s hobbies included playing softball and baseball; bowling, golfing, dancing, snowmobiling, card playing, hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed yard games such as bean bag toss, throwing horse shoes and lawn golf. He also enjoyed watching car racing and served on a racing pit crew at one time. 
 
Those surviving and sharing in Gerald’s life were his wife, Janice of Heimdal; son, David of Heimdal; daughter, Candice (Bryan) Nelson of Milaca, MN; four grandchildren; mother, Frieda Culp of Monticello, MN; sisters, Katherine Adams of Texas; Joan (Stan) Osmundson of Andover, MN, Betty (Al) Jones of Big Lake, MN, Norma (Joseph) Neu of Monticello, Shari (Doug) Hayes of Elk River, MN; brother, Fred (Pat) Culp of Monticello, MN; numerous nieces and nephews and his faithful dog, Buddy. 
 
Preceding Gerald in death were his father, Joseph; brothers, Gordon and Richard; sister, Mary Ann; and his pet dogs Babe and Sadie.
