Jerald Edward Schave, “Jerry” age 77 of Apple Valley, formerly of Becker, passed away Jan. 28 with family by his side.

 

Jerry served his country as a member of the US Air Force. In 1965 he began working for NSP and continued until his retirement in 1995. Jerry was an active member of the Becker Baptist Church for 26 years and built lifelong friendships there. When he wasn’t at work or in church, Jerry spent many happy hours in his workshop making intricate scroll-saw art which he and Nancy enjoyed giving as gifts, and selling at art fairs and craft shows. Other pastimes included painting, puzzling, reading, playing cards, fishing, hunting, camping, and road trips with family and friends.

 

He is preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Edna, and sister, Lois Andrusko. Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Nancy; children, Beth (Les) Hazelton, and Scott Schave; grandchildren, Jesse, Elle, Annaka, Isaac, Hannah, Kiah, and Henry “Bubby”; great granddaughter, Lia; siblings, Joanne (Tom) Ruedy, Sharon (Larry) Holub, Jean Schave, Shirlee Schave, Warren (Lynn) Schave; brother-in-law, Ross Andrusko; many nieces and nephews and close family friend , David (Kim) Boysen and their girls.

 

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Sat. at the Becker Baptist Church, 11951 Hancock St. with a gathering of family and friends 1 hour prior to service at the church and lunch following. Private interment at Fort Snelling to be held at a future date. Condolences: www.whitefuneralhomes.com.
