Johnson, Eugene F. of Crystal, died March 7, at the age of 90. He joins his parents, Axel Johnson and Ida Johnson, brothers, Ray and Mel, his wife, Violet, and his long-time companion, Lorraine Kachman, in heaven. He is survived by his loving family: children, Barton (Lynn) Johnson, Bruce Johnson and Jeannie Johnson, 3 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. 

 

In his own words, Eugene said: "I have had a good life-done it all and been every place I've wanted to go. I have shared my life with two special women, Violet and Lorraine, and have had a great family and friends." Gene served in the US Navy during WW II in San Diego and was an over -the- road truck driver for many years. He entertained with his wife, Violet at Cottonwood Beach on Briggs Lake and many venues until her death in 1986. Gene was then blessed to meet Lorraine Kachman in 1987 and they spent 25 years together enjoying retirement in Fort Myers Beach, FL and at Gene's cabin in Clear Lake. Gene enjoyed fishing, cutting grass and family sing-alongs at his cabin on Lake Julia for the past 60 years. Gene was bold, brassy, resilient, unfiltered and loved by many.

 

We will celebrate Gene's life on Monday, March 20 at the Living Table UCC, 3805 E. 40th St., Minneapolis 55406. Visitation will begin at 10 am followed by the funeral service at 11 am. Interment will follow at Fort Snelling at 2 p.m.
