Edward “Ed” Goenner, 88 Becker, MN December 24, 1935 – January 13, 2024

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Tuesday January 23, 2024 at St. Marcus Catholic Church in Clear Lake for Ed Goenner, 88, of Becker and formerly of Clear Lake who died Saturday, January 13, 2024 at Shepherd of Grace in Becker.  The Rev. Joseph Backowski will officiate and burial will be in the parish cemetery.  Visitation will be after 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church in Clear Lake.  Arrangements have been entrusted to the Williams Dingmann Funeral Home in Clear Lake.

Ed was born December 24, 1935 in Clear Lake to Fred & Julia (Chaffin) Goenner.  He served his country in the United States Army.  He married Mary Ann Fisher on December 29, 1958 at St. Mary’s Cathedral in St. Cloud.  After their marriage they purchased a farm in Clear Lake and farmed most of his life.  He also worked as a nurse’s assistant at the St. Cloud VA Medical Center for 30 years retiring in 1992.  He is a member of St. Marcus Catholic Church in Clear Lake, Clearwater American Legion, and Clear Lake Sportsman Club.  Ed loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, trapping and snowmobiling were some of his favorites.  He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and taught them a lot about fishing and hunting.  He was very family orientated.  He was a very friendly and witty.  He would strike up a conversation with anyone at any time.  He enjoyed his garden and his apple orchard.  He would always compare with his siblings, who could grow the larger tomatoes.  He was an honest man who was always willing to help you out. 

He is survived by his wife Mary Ann of Becker; children, Gerald (Vera) Goenner of St. Cloud; Peggy Harrison of Fishers, IN; Patrick (Michelle) Goenner of Clear Lake; Keith (Wendy) Goenner of Clear Lake; grandchildren, MacKenzie Hess, Shayn Goenner, John Harrison, Erinn Goenner, Nathan Goenner, Jaclyn Vogel, Heidi Nitsch, Matthew Schrader, Derek Goenner and 17 great-grandchildren and Eds siblings, Fritz Goenner, of Brooklyn Center; Virginia (Steve) Foster of Columbus, WI; Mike (Gwen) Goenner of Clear Lake; Johanna (Don) Honkamp of St. Cloud; Dave (Donna) Goenner of Clear Lake; sisters in law, Delphine Goenner of Clear Lake and JoAnn Goenner of Clear Lake.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Tom, Jim, William, Richard, and Joe (Betty) Goenner, sister, Theresa (Jim) Zahler, sisters in law, Mary Magdeline Goenner and Marge Goenner.
