A memorial service was held Tues., Aug. 30 at the Clearwater Pavilion (1100 Co. Rd. 75, Clearwater) for Derek R. Scherr, 31, of Clearwater who passed away unexpectedly on Wed., Aug. 24. Rev. Tony Kroll officiated.

 

Derek was born on April 10, 1985 in Monticello to Jeff (Terri) Scherr and Roxane (Shawn) Moorhouse. He studied information technology at St. Cloud Technical and Community College. He dedicated eight years to the IT department at SpeeDee Delivery. Derek married the love of his life, Ana Iten on May 17, 2014 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Waite Park.  

 

He enjoyed wrestling, video games and heavy metal music. He had a passion for craft beer, the Vikings and his feline friends; Derek had a kind and gentle heart, a contagious laugh and a sense of humor that could only be described as quirky.

 

He is survived by his wife, Ana; his "girls" (cats), Lil Miss and Pablo; parents; siblings, Nick (Debra) of Clearwater, David (Steph) of Monticello, Gage (Raya) Coash of Fargo, Chelsea of Monticello, Chad (Katrina) of St. Cloud, Joey Coash of Monticello; grandparents, Laurel and Bonnie Rask; nieces and nephews, Kaitlyn, Miranda (goddaughter), Bailey, Lucey, Madiley, Gradey, Reid, and Blake; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

 

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Clarence and Laverne Scherr; aunts and uncles, Cheryl Espelund, Billie Scherr, Colleen Hannon; great aunt and uncle, Chet and Joan Rask; cousins, Corey Blesi and John Ross; and many other relatives. Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.
