Dennis Wold

Dennis Leroy Wold, age 73 of Big Lake, passed away on Friday, December 26, 2014 with his family by his side. Visitation was Tuesday evening, Dec. 30 at Peterson-Grimsmo Chapel, Monticello. A Memorial Service followed, Rev. Lee Evenson officiated. There was a private interment. Funeral arrangements were with the Peterson-Grimsmo Chapel of Monticello.
 
Dennis was born in Elk River, MN on February 24, 1941. He was a lifelong resident of Big Lake. On August 1, 1959, he married his high school sweetheart Betty Brooks. He was a member of the Bricklayers Union until 1977, when he started his own company Sunrise Specialty. In 1978 he opened Wally’s Ice Cream Palace. He loved to golf, bowl, hunt, fish, play broomball and softball, race snowmobiles, coached his son’s baseball teams, and pretty much anything related to his family. He loved wintering in Arizona and Texas, so he could lawn bowl and golf.
 
Dennis is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Betty; children Denny (Donna) Wold of St. Michael, Mark (Sandy) Wold of Becker, Cindy (Brad  Schmidt) of Clearwater;  7 grandchildren Cody, Nate (Jessie), Chase, Tiffany (Tyler), Dane, Tonia and Danielle;  great grandson Landon;  and the newest addition to his family, his yorkie Sweetie Joe. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Steve it was just another hurdle in life to address. Time fell short of what he would have liked it to be. His tumors were donated to Sarcoma Research at the Mayo Clinic. 
 
He is survived by his wife, Nina, and his two sons, Mitchell (16)and Patrick(15). He is also survived by his parents, Robert and Wanda McKee of Pequot Lakes, MN, his brother, Michael McKee and fiance' Becky Wallace of Maple Grove, MN, sisters, Sheri (Wally) Shelstad of Buffalo, MN, Judy McKee of Little Canada, MN, Laurie McKee of Plymouth, MN and long time friend David Daniels of Maple Grove, MN.  He was preceded in death by his sister, Susan McKee. The Peterson Chapel of St. Michael assisted the family with arrangements.
