Dennis Schmidt, 79, passed away unexpectedly of cardiac arrest on June 1. A celebration of life will be held on Mon, June 12 at the Santiago Town Hall from 3-5 p.m. with a private internment in Willmar at a later date.

 

Dennis was born to Harm & Ella (Petersen) Schmidt of Raymond on May 31, 1938. He married Janet Floren Sept. 19, 1959 at Eagle Lake Lutheran Church, Spicer.  He held several jobs and lived several places before settling in Becker. Dennis worked at Hoffman Engineering until he retired in 1998. He also worked at Menards part time as he enjoyed interacting with people. He finally retired completely due to health issues. Dennis enjoyed garage sales and having coffee at local establishments with area farmers and past co-workers and taking long  Sunday drives. 

 

Dennis is survived by his wife, Janet, son Roger (Jean) Becker and he his two grandchildren Evan and Sarah, brother Vernon (Dorothy) LaGrange GA, aunt Hilda Niewubeart, Willmar and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, infant brother Orville, sister Alvina and nephew Kyle Schmidt.
