Funeral services were Fri., Jan. 29 at the Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home, St. Cloud for David C. Storms, 86, who passed away on Monday at his home. Rev. Gerald Dalseth officiated and a private family burial was in Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery, Little Falls.
David was born in Lynden Township to Louis and Regina (Thole) Storms. He married Rita C. Kemper on September 7, 1950 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Melrose. He resided in Lynden Township all his life where he farmed. David proudly served his country in the United States Army serving during the Korean Conflict. He was employed at the St. Cloud VA Medical Center as a nursing assistant from 1953-1964. David was the founder of Stormy Oil Company which he ran from September 1964 until he retired in 1981. He was a life member of The Disabled American Veterans and a four time National Convention Delegate for the American Legion. He also was involved starting the St. Augusta American Legion by purchasing the first share. David was a member of the St. Mary Help of Christian Catholic Church, St. Augusta, the Waite Park American Legion #428, the Eagles Aerie #622 and the Waite Park Moose Lodge #1400.
He is survived by his children, Jerry of Clearwater, Janel (Fred) Schaefer of Annandale, Jeff of Clearwater; grandchildren, Joe (Erin) Schaefer, Sarah (Tyler) Gerads, Andrea Storms; great granddaughter, Kenlie Schaefer and sister, Agnes Carter of Fairmont.
David was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Rita on April 9, 2013; his infant daughter, Mary; sister, Cecilia Popp; brothers, Herbert and Cyril.
