On Wed., Jan. 22, 2025, Daniel John Stang passed away at home with family by his side. Succumbing to complications from a long battle with cancer at the age of 61.

Danny was born October 11, 1963 in Minneapolis, MN to George and Audrey (Gunderson) Stang, the oldest of their three children. He grew up and lived at the family farm in Becker where he spent his time hunting fishing and enjoying time with family.

Dan had three children, Tom, Tammy and Tara before settling down with Maureen and gaining two more -  Jeremy and Nick. Moving just miles away from his parents, he spent 35 years with Maureen raising their children, traveling all over the US and remodeling their home over and over and over.

The thing Dan loved most in life was being a grandpa. Whether you knew him personally or just met him at the grocery store, he would gloat about all 12 of them.

As we all know, Dan’s garden came in at a close second. Taking pride in it every year, donating the pumpkins he grew to his grandkids school, local businesses, and never expecting anything for it. He was just that kind of guy, willing to do anything for anybody.

He enjoyed getting together with friends and family, playing cards, cribbage, poker, or hand and foot. Even though he was the “blind man”, he could still throw horseshoes, darts, and bean bags with the best of them.

Dan is survived by his significant other Maureen Colford, his father, George Stang, siblings, Nancy (Chris) James, Scott (Ann) Stang, children, Thomas Stang, Tamara (TJ) Johnson, Tara Stang, Jeremy (Sarah) Colford, Nick (Ann) Colford, grandchildren, Tanner, Makayla, Brody, Keaton, Wyatt, Alex, Kellan, Elliot Quinn, Henry, Ty, James.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Audrey Stang, grandparents Esther and Norris Gunderson, Norb and Isabel Stang, and many other beloved family members.

A celebration of life will be held at the Clearwater Legion 505 Pine Street, Clearwater, MN 55320 on Sat., March 1 from 1 to 6 p.m. with a small service at 2 p.m.
