Christianson, Charles Nels age 84, of Monticello, passed away at his residence on February 16. Visitation was Friday, Feb. 19 at St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Monticello. Funeral services were Feb. 20 at Riverside Cemetery.
Charles was born on May 6, 1931 in St. Cloud to Clifford B. and Gladys (Nelson) Christianson. He grew up in the Santiago and Princeton areas, and graduated from Monticello High School in 1949. He then served in the United States Air Force during the early 1950's. He worked for Newton Manufacturing selling specialty advertising items from 1958 and continued to serve some customers until his death. He was a lifelong member of St. Peter's Ev. Lutheran Church of Monticello from the mid 1940's. He was a member of the Monticello Fire Dept for over 40 years.
He and his wife Fay, traveled extensively, including many medical mission trips to the Soviet Union. They also hosted nearly twenty exchange students from South America, Central America, Europe and Scandinavia. Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Gladys. He is survived by his wife Fay; son Kevin (Nancy) Christianson; daughter Krisie Garvin; grandchildren Karla, Kip and Christian; great-grand-daughter Rose; brother Bernard (Betty) Christianson; and sister Marlene (Harold) Truax. www.peterson-grimsmochapel.com
