Bernard Alfred Abrahamson, age 92, of Santiago, passed away Tues., April 25 at his home with family and friends by his side. Bernard was born on May 23, 1924 in Santiago the son of Alfred and Marie (McGuire) Abrahamson.
Bernard graduated from Princeton High School in 1941. He then served in the US Army during WWII as a decoder. He married Arlyss Stay in 1949. He farmed for 50 years and worked road construction. Bernard enjoyed the outdoors - hunting, fishing, gardening, and feeding birds. He enjoyed spending time with his family and lifelong friends. He was a man who believed actions spoke louder than words. He always had his dogs, Betty and Champ, by his side.
Bernard is survived by his wife Arlyss; daughter Judy; brothers-in-law, Ray Halverson and Roger Stay; sisters-in-law, Luella Peterson and Marlene Stay; nephews, Jerry, Joel, Jim and Doug Abrahamson; David George, Leslie Peterson, Jeff and Craig Stay; and nieces, Gwen Severson, Audrey Lambert, and Carolyn Stay.
He is preceded in death by his parents; stepmother; son-in-law Gerald Nelson; brothers, Philip and Kenneth; nephews, Dick and Lee Abrahamson, Duane Stay; and great nephew Chad Abrahamson.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the Funeral Service. Funeral Service will begin at 7PM on Monday, May 1 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, 2.4 miles east of Santiago on Co. Ro. 3. Full Military Honors will follow. Arrangements entrusted to Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home in Princeton.
