Zimmerman Man Arrested For Assault

Monday, Sherburne County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Ulysses Chase, 27, Zimmerman,  for second degree assault.

Sheriff Joel Brott explained that on Sunday at around 5:52 in the evening, deputies were called to an address on Oakwood Rd. in Zimmerman, for a complaint by an individual who alleged he was threatened with a handgun.

Upon arrival, deputies spoke to the victim who stated that Chase had pointed a chrome handgun at him when he confronted Chase about missing property from his residence and Chase threatened to shoot him.

Chase fled the area and —despite a thorough search — was not located.

Investigators were called to Chase’s residence and a search warrant was executed.  During the search, a large amount of what is believed to be stolen property was recovered.

Investigators said they believe they have recovered most of the owner’s  property.

The next day, Sherburne County deputies received a suspicious vehicle complaint near the Oakwood Rd. address from the previous evening. Chase was located inside that motor vehicle and was taken into custody following a short foot pursuit.

Chase remains in the Sherburne County jail awaiting arraignment.
