A utility worker died Tuesday after falling from a boom truck bucket on a job site in Orrock Township, according to Commander Ben Zawacki.

Thomas L. Stewart, 59, of Dayton, fell at about 1:55 p.m. while working in the ditch on the north side of 241st Avenue Northwest just west of 185th Street, according to Zawacki. The fall happened when Stewart was getting out of the bucket, which was 6-8 feet in the air.

Sherburne County deputies were assisted by Big Lake police, Big Lake Fire Department and emergency medical technicians in life-saving efforts at the scene. Stewart was transported to St. Cloud Hospital, where he was pronounced dead late Tuesday night.
