WH Holding Company (WHHC), a subsidiary of Wright-Hennepin Cooperative Electric Association (WH), has appointed Timothy J. Sullivan as chief executive officer (CEO) and named Wendy Youngren chief operating officer (COO).
Timothy J. Sullivan of Medina, Minn., originally joined Wright-Hennepin last June and was named President and CEO of Wright-Hennepin Cooperative Electric Association in late September. Prior to this, Sullivan worked for 15 years in a variety of roles for the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA) and for Touchstone Energy Cooperatives, Inc.
Earlier in his career, Sullivan served as director of strategic planning for Minnesota Governor Arne Carlson and as press secretary to U.S. Representative Vin Weber (Minn.).
Sullivan has a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism, Summa Cum Laude, from the University of St. Thomas, St. Paul, Minn.
“We wanted someone who is innovative and welcomes competitive challenges,” said Timothy Young, president of WHHC. “As a board, we believe Tim’s prior experience and success on a national level, as well as the work he’s already completed for WHHC, bodes well for the future of our companies.”
Wendy Youngren, Buffalo, Minn., has worked for WHHC since 1994, where she began as a security dispatcher for WH International Response Center (WHIRC). Youngren became the WHIRC manager in 2003 before taking over as director of business operations in 2007. She was promoted to WHIRC vice president in 2009 before ascending to COO in November.
Prior to working for WH, Youngren served in various public service roles as a corrections officer and police officer. She received her training at the Washington State Criminal Justice Training Center, receiving certification from both the Correctional Officer Training Academy and Police Officer Training Academy.
“Wendy has worked her way up through WHIRC and demonstrated her value as a leader at every level,” Sullivan said. “She’s played a central role in gaining national recognition for our response center, and will be equally central to growing the rest of our diversified businesses. Under her leadership, we expect WH Holding to achieve new heights.”
