On Feb. 22 at approximately 10:09 p.m., Big Lake Police Officer Tyler Hecht initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle with a non-functioning brake light. The driver was identified as Mitchell Dennis, 41 of Waite Park.

Officer Hecht was informed by dispatch that Dennis had a warrant for his arrest from Stearns County. Dennis was placed under arrest. During the search, Officer Hecht located a small Ziploc baggie with white residue in Dennis’s pants pocket.

A search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of an Ibuprofen container in the driver’s side door compartment. Inside the container was tinfoil with suspected methamphetamine inside. Officer Hecht also located a Ziploc baggie with suspected heroin.

Both substances were field-tested, and both tested positive for methamphetamine and heroin.

Dennis was transported to the Sherburne County Jail. Dennis was charged by criminal complaint with; two (2) Felony 5th Degree Possession of Narcotics.
