Two Schools Set Conference Days

Parents of Becker Primary and Intermediate School students may begin using the Skyward Family Web access to begin scheduling fall assessments and conferences on Mon., Aug. 11 at 8 a.m.,reports Intermediate School Principal Dr. Christine Glomski.

Each student will have a one to two hours to attend school with a parent.  The primary school will be scheduling appointments from 11:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tue., Sept. 2 and from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wed., Sept. 3.  The intermediate school will schedule appointments from 11:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tue., Sept. 2 and from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Wed., Sept. 3.

On those days, parents and students will: Meet teachers and tour classrooms; read and complete a benchmark assessment with the classroom teacher; take part in a DIBELS (Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Literacy Skills) assessment; have their Liftouch® photo taken; vision and hearing screenings for third- and fifth=-grade students; complete emergency forms, lunch accounts, headphones, etc.; tour the building and meet staff, and learn about the expectations of their new grade level.

The program has been very successful in the past, giving teachers time to gather assessments that will help staff meet the learning needs of each student. “We strongly believe this day helps staff, students and families start the year off positively,” Glomski said.
