Tuesday was Night to Unite

Local law enforcement and firefighters were out in force Tuesday night in numerous communities, not for an emergency, but to visit with the many neighborhoods in Becker, Big Lake, Clear Lake, Clearwater and Santiago Twp. holding Night to Unite (NTU, or National Night Out) events.

NTU is a statewide celebration that takes place on the first Tuesday of August every year. The goal of the event if to celebrate and strengthen neighborhoods and community partnerships, particularly between residents and their local law enforcement.

The event encourages residents to get out into their community, hold block parties and get to know their neighbors as a way to encourage crime prevention.

Night to Unite is sponsored by the Minnesota Crime Prevention Association, AAA of Minnesota/Iowa and local law enforcement communities. For more information visit mncpa.net.
