The Clearwater Twp. Board of Supervisors will be making a decision about one of its biggest road projects in recent years.
Monday, the board opened bids on the Illsley Ave. and 125th Street intersection reconstruction project near the Suconnix State Wildlife Management Area.
Last year, the board agreed to realign the intersection because of safety issues.
At the January meeting, the board approved the final plans and instructed engineer Shane Nelson of Hakanson Anderson to solicit bids for the project.
Monday, Supervisor Dan Mol opened six bids, and a few were very close. The lowest bid came from New Look Contracting, Inc. at $194,308.
M.L. Schendzielos & Son, Inc. was next at $197,624.05 and the bid from Minnerath Construction, Inc. was $199,413.75.
Other bids were: Northern Lines Contracting $218,142.35; Gertken Bros., Inc. $249,248.75 and Rice Contracting $271,670.88.
The board didn’t award the bid Monday. Last month, Nelson recommended a full review of each bid to make sure everything was included. The bids were forwarded to him after Monday’s meeting and will undergo a complete evaluation.
The board agreed to meet again Friday (Feb. 12) after Nelson had a chance to tabulate each bid and make a recommendation. Mol said during that meeting the board could either award the bid or reject all bids.
Results from that meeting will be covered next week.
If the board does award the bid at that meeting, the approximate starting date for the project is mid-May with a completion date near June 24.
