Touch A Truck Event Packs In The Masses

Ideal spring weather hailed the attendees at the 2018 “Touch a Truck” event at the Becker Community Center last Saturday morning.

Kids of all ages — yeah, we’re talking about you mom and dad — made their way through the parking lot to take a look inside the big trucks, cars, choppers and construction equipment on display to the north of the building. There were also a few bouncy castles set up to engage the little ones and food booths were also busy keeping bellies full.

The list of “trucks” included unfailing favorites like the Becker Fire Dept. long ladder truck, a Becker Police Dept. vehicle with lights ablaze, the North Memorial Air Ambulance, National Guard vehicles and uniformed troops to answer questions.

A mini-donut truck was stationed nearby for those who looked to eat some sugary confection while perusing the mammoth motor machines. Kettle Corn was also served up to the delight of the visitors.

Also on hand was a race car from Accurate Automotive, vehicles from Joe’s Bobcat, a couple autos from West Metro, a semi from T.J. Potter Trucking and another from Versatile Transport, a couple yard trucks from Country Lumber and Ess Brothers, a cement mixer from Knife River, a delivery van from SpeeDee Delivery, school buses, ambulances, City of Becker dump trucks and a group of fancy motorcycles.

Wruck Excavating had a sand pile spilled out with a fleet of Tonka® toy trucks that drew a flock of kids all day long for some “hands on” sand moving.

Inside the BCC, a large garage sale was in full swing, with a variety of tables and displays available for shopping.
