Three Xcel Energy employees at the Sherco power plant in Becker were injured in an incident Wednesday afternoon.
Xcel Energy says the employees sustained non-life threatening injuries while working near a breaker that failed.
Coworkers immediately called 911 and paramedics quickly arrived at the plant in Becker.
The injured workers were transported to Hennepin County Medical Center via choppers.
Xcel Energy says it's working to determine the cause of the incident, “but right now our thoughts are with our employees.”
Matt Lindstrom, Xcel Energy media relations representative told the Citizen-Tribune he was unable to release the names of the employees injured as of Thursday afternoon.
The company says employee safety is its number one priority, and all three employees were wearing the proper protective equipment.
