A THREE-CAR CRASH at the intersection of Hwy. 10 and Co. Rd. 81 in Big Lake claimed the life of a 33-year-old man from Big Lake. According to the state patrol, Matthew Barthel of Big Lake was traveling south on Co. Rd. 81, crossing the highway on a green light. A Jeep (inset), driven by 35-year-old Juan Morales of Big Lake, ran the red light on Hwy. 10 and crashed into Barthel, who then hit a vehicle driven by Jeffrey Mateyka of Becker. Mateyka was uninjured and Morales was transported to St. Cloud Hospital
