Stethoscopes and stuffed animals were in abundance at the Clearwater Library earlier this month during Wright Co. Public Health’s ‘Teddy Bear Clinic’ program.
Kids were invited to bring their favorite teddy bear or other stuffed animal to the Clearwater Library and participate in the county’s Teddy Bear Clinic.
The event kicked off with a story about the Berenstein Bears going to the doctor. The kids were then invited to give their teddy bears a ‘checkup’ and participate in learning activities. They were even given a check off list to make sure they gave their bears complete checkups.
“This walks kids through what an average doctor appointment looks like,” said Wright Co. Public Health’s Tina Prior. “That way they’re more comfortable when they actually go to the doctor.”
Teddy Bears were provided to everyone, which were then used to try out medical equipment used in a checkup, such as stethoscopes, blood pressure cuffs, and Band-Aids.
The event was through the county’s WOW van, promoting health through vaccinations and checkups.
