Gina Hugo, Resource Conservationist with the Sherburne Soil And Water Conservation District (SWCD) office in Elk River, MN, was presented with the Minnesota Community Forestry Outstanding Project Award last month in honor of her work in community engagement and preparedness projects in five communities in Sherburne County last year.
She received the award in a ceremony in the Great Hall at Bethel University on Tue., March 18 at the conclusion of a state forestry course being offered there on that day. The award citation noted that her “accomplishments and commitment to urban forestry and tree care go far beyond her duties as a forester for the Sherburne County Soil and Water Conservation District.”
The award is given jointly each year by the Minnesota Society of Aboriculture (MSA) and the Minnesota Shade Tree Advisory Committee (MNSTAC), according to Lara Newberger of the MN Community Forestry Awards Committee.
